There are a number of NFHS Foundation events scheduled for this summer’s NFHS Annual Meeting in Boston. You, your staff, and your Association are encouraged to participate.
Funds raised at these events support our membership for conducting student citizenship and leadership activities as well as activities pertaining to risk minimization in high school activities. In addition, the NFHS Foundation has allocated money to support the NFHS injury surveillance program, as well as studies that focus on heat and hydration, concussions, and other risk minimization issues.
NFHS Foundation Silent Auction
The eleventh annual NFHS Foundation Silent Auction will take place in conjunction with the Summer Meeting Opening Reception in Boston this coming summer. We rely very heavily on state associations and individual to donate items for the Silent Auction. Suggestions for items to be donated are only limited by your imagination: sports memorabilia, collector’s items, baskets or items peculiar to a specific state, and other marketable items.
If you are willing to donate an item or items to our NFHS Foundation Silent Auction, we would be most appreciative. Items can be sent to the National Federation at 1802 Alonzo Watford Senior Drive, Indianapolis, In 46202. Or items may be brought to our Summer Meeting site in Boston.
The NFHS Foundation Board of Directors have decided to discontinue the annual raffle for golf clubs that has been conducted the last several years, so there appears to be a need for an even more successful Silent Auction. Please feel free to contact Jim Tenopir if you have any questions about next summer’s NFHS Foundation Silent Auction.
NFHS Foundation Golf Tournament and Golf Hole Sponsorship
The NFHS Foundation Golf Tournament will take place Sunday, June 29, 2014. The format will be a four-person scramble. Attendees are encouraged to form their own foursomes and prizes will be awarded to the top foursomes. Contest for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt will also be held, in addition to the opportunity to score a hole-in-one for $10,000.
State associations and corporate vendors are encouraged to sponsor one or more golf holes. Golf Tournament Hole Sponsorship is $300.00 per hole sponsored. This will give you: signage on a tee; recognition in the Summer Meeting Program; and recognition at the NFHS Foundation Breakfast. Hole sponsorship fees may be sent to the National Federation at: NFHS, P. O. Box 690, Indianapolis, IN 46206.
“95 for 95”
With the 2014 Summer Meeting, the NFHS will celebrate its 95th year since the states recognized the need to work together on behalf of the young men and women participating in interscholastic athletics and activities. In that same spirit of cooperation, the NFHS is seeking help in building the NFHS Foundation. As of December, 2013, the NFHS Foundation has provided grants totaling $385,600.00 since its inception. All of these grants are made possible through the active support of our member state associations.
The NFHS Foundation is promoting a “95 for 95” initiative, promoting donations of $95.00 in support of the 95 years of the NFHS’ existence. Donors will have a ribbon attached to their Summer Meeting names badges, indicating they are a “95 for 95” donor. You may either include your donation to the NFHS Foundation on your Summer Meeting Registration Form, or you may send your donation to the National Federation with a note indicating that your check is for the “95 for 95” Foundation fundraiser.
Fun Run/Walk and NFHS Baggo Tournament
